Initial travel planning...

As you may know, we have some things we want to see in Peru first... We have already seen Machu Pichu but we'll stop at Cuzco anyway to get used to high altitude (~3000m above sea level). But starting at the very first, we start the trip at Lima.
We plan to travel south through pisco (you problably only know pisco sour which comes from there!) and have a look at the animals and the vegatation of "little galapagos".
After this, we head south direction Nazca, to see the famous Nazca lines from a little, shabby airplane. If all goes well, we start crossing the andes and get to Cuzco, the former Inca capital, shaped as a puma, visiting some Inca sights.

The jungle is pretty close, so we plan to visit it. Therefore we have been immunised to yellow fever (and some other diseases; therefore we feel a bit dizzy today) but it supposed to be very special.
Next stop will be around lago titicaca / Puno although we don't want to spend too much time there, we want go get to the colca canyon to see the condors and go hicking there (btw: There is a Lonley Planet called: Trecking the central andes, which is not available anymore in Switzerland, but with a little help, you can buy it overpriced as a second hand version...) but nevertheless the canyon seems to be great.
Last but not least: Arequipa (the white city) with the volcanos Misti (5822m) and Chachani (6057) where we definitely want to climb at least one of them!
From there, the plan is probably to go direction Bolivia / La Paz but this will be planned on the fly ;-)

For all those who had a window seat in geography: here a little map with the major stopps :-) thanks to Google!

Planned take off - Sunday 2nd of October, 9:25 am direction Amsterdam - Lima

5 days left in Switzerland, and still a lot of things to organize; Visiting the inoculation centre in Zurich is done :-) If you ever go there, it can take quite a while until you are done with everything...
Camera is ready, SD cards ready, binoculars ready and the first two nights in Lima are booked!

BTW: the picture shows the cathedral of Lima

Furthermore: if you want to see where we are at the moment, you can check out this page: Chris and Rosi in South America
It will also contain our tracks in the andes thanks to the cool GPS tracking unit I received :-)
